The craziness of last week carried over into this one. Work, especially, has been insane. So I thought this week I’d do an especially short post, just a few quick hits.
We are gearing up soon for Thanksgiving and a quick vacation to Cabo, which is exciting and stressful at the same time. It’s funny and disconcerting how vacation can turn into a burden as we get older. The stress of stepping away from work, of traveling with a young kid, of expectations for a restful trip. The stress associated with travel is a new feeling for me. I’ve always been great at taking vacations, but it shifted recently. Now that we have a kid, that stress is present more often and something that I have to sort through in order to relax. I am hopeful, though, that a few days away will help us all recharge our batteries.
I promised more details on the art show that I’m doing. And by the way, thank you to everyone that asked about it. It will be in Longmont, Colorado at Wibby Brewing on November 24-26. It’s Friday from 5-8, Saturday from 12-8, and Sunday from 12-4. More details can be found here. It would be great to see a few familiar faces.
Our book club picked Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. It’s a book that I listened to last year and thoroughly enjoyed. It’s also a good one to revisit. And if you check it out, you really should listen to it. It’s even money whether McConaughey is full of it or not, but his larger point is salient I think, that you should take the green lights in life when you get them. That’s something I’ve been thinking about recently, especially as it relates to the art show. It’s anything but convenient to do an art show right after we go on vacation and after Thanksgiving, but timing is rarely perfect.
No real writing this week, or photography, or much in the way of working out. When life gets busy, it can get really busy. I hope to find more time next week and when we head out of town.
To send everyone into the weekend, here are a few photographs from the last time we went to Cabo. None of them are winning awards, but it’s fun to look back and think about how much I’ve learned.
As always, thank you for reading. Please send me a note or leave a comment with any reactions, and I hope everyone has a good weekend.
